Swan Range Community Potlucks and Music Jam Sessions

Join us for our biweekly Community Potluck Dinners and Music Jam Sessions at Mountain Brook Community Library*, 2353 Foothill Road.

The sessions are open to all skill levels and to those wishing to listen rather than play.

We meet on alternating Sundays, with exceptions for holidays and other events, so check the list of dates below for upcoming sessions.

Potluck begins at 5 pm, followed by acoustic music until 8:30 or 9:00.

Swan Ranger Hiking Club Celebrates 300th Outing!

Sixteen Swan Rangers celebrated the Rangers’ 300th outing with a hike to Elk Springs on August 27, 2011, where they enjoyed a bit of champagne, non-alcoholic sparkling apple cider, Pam’s Morning Glory muffins, and each others’ fine company!

The Swan Rangers’ first outing was also to Elk Springs and took place on November 12, 2005.

Walkin’ Jim Stoltz Memorial Concert August 20

Friends, family and admirers of one of Montana’s most well-known environmentalist-singers gathered on Saturday, August 20 in the Big Sky Town Center to celebrate the life of Walkin’ Jim Stoltz in a manner he would have appreciated: In the mountains, with music.

Nationally known artists Dakota Sid Clifford, Earth Mama Joyce Rouse, Kate Bennet, Emma’s Revolution, and Alaskan troubadour Susan Grace Stoltz are just some of the musicians who took to the stage in the new Town Center pavilion to share their songs of the Earth. They were joined by Montana performers Bluebird Sky, Prairie Wind Jammers, Keith Hammer (photo above) and Cowgirl Poet Buzzy Vick in the free all-day event, billed “Forever Wild 2011.”

The Forever Wild memorial was a way to both honor Jim’s life and continue his vision. Concert-goers had opportunities to donate to MUSE and its new scholarship fund, Kid for the Wild, which is intended to help kids spend time in the outdoors through assistance with camp or outdoor expedition expenses.
